Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment to ensure optimal operational performance. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications and schematics.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, transmission servicing, hydraulic system repairs, suspension adjustments, and tire service to ensure equipment longevity and safety.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific repair requirements.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform automotive diagnostics on diesel engines and electrical components to identify issues accurately.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during repair or testing procedures while adhering to all safety protocols related to air brakes, HVAC systems, alignment procedures, and hydraulics.
- Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed; interpret schematics and technical manuals for precise troubleshooting.
- Assist with assembly or disassembly of machinery components during repair or upgrade projects; support equipment upgrades or modifications as required.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or extensive mechanic experience working with heavy equipment and diesel engines.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals accurately.
- Proficiency with OEM parts sourcing and familiarity with Caterpillar (CAT), Farm machinery brands, industrial equipment standards, and power tools.
- Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication techniques, tire service, alignment procedures, and heavy lifting operations.
- Experience with automotive repair including brake repair, vehicle maintenance for tractor-trailers or similar vehicles.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients about repairs or maintenance needs.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards at all times.
