Job Description
GreenWood, Inc. is now actively recruiting applicants for our Metal Fabricator/Millwright position. We are looking for applicants who are interested in a Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt position at the Mitsubishi site in Greer, SC. Employees normally work Monday through Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm, 40 hours per week and occasional overtime as needed. We are currently looking for an applicant who is interested in a position without the need to travel. GreenWood does not offer per diem at this job site.
The Metal Fabricator/Millwright position is responsible for fabricating steel and aluminum support frames, brackets, metal stands, industrial carts, racks and miscellaneous parts that may have broken or worn out and in need of replacement in an industrial setting. The position will also take part in installing machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial environment.
Position Responsibilities - Essential
- Analyze all required blueprints, drawings, work orders, and sketches in order to fabricate and install desired product or part
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment
- Inspect, assemble, and smooth seams and joints of burred surfaces
- Set up machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal
- Measure, cut and shape metal materials according to the design
- Use specialized tools and equipment for cutting and shaping metals by using anvils, blocks, brakes or forms using a hammer
- Check all structure components prior to installation to prevent damage
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Assemble metal components by welding, using rivet, screws, various other fasteners
- Inspect final products for quality and adherence to the specified design
- Install fabricated work according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial environment, using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools
- Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
- Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
- Assemble and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools, and fasten them to foundation or other structure
- Repair and lubricate machines and equipment when needed
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position
Position Responsibilities - Non-Essential/Other
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Conduct process inspection, certification, and documentation
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Essential Skills and Experience
- Four (4) years of experience in metal fabrication
- Ability to perform various types of welding
- Extensive knowledge of structural, sheet metal repairs and modifications to include fabrication of sheet metal parts
- Ability to make sketches to fabricate miscellaneous parts and make repairs
- Ability to rig machinery and equipment to OSHA standards
- Ability to detect errors and correct through proper channels
- Thorough working knowledge of blueprints to determine type of configuration and special instructions prior to installation
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
- Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job but with minimal direct supervision
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
