Position Summary
The Electrician A is responsible for the proper construction, installation, modification, maintenance, and repairs of electrical appliances, apparatus, systems, facilities, and related electronic controls of varying design or complexity.
Position Responsibilities - Essential
- Performs the functions of construction, installation, modification, maintenance, and repairs of electrical appliances, apparatus, systems, facilities, and related electronic controls and devices by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers’ specifications, and written and verbal instructions.
- Assists in the establishment of preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities
- Performs inspections of electrical components and instruments and meters, indicators, and gauges in order to detect abnormal fluctuations, and locate defective components in systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals
- Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, and avoids unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring
- Ensures consistency with specifications and local electrical codes
- Conducts tests on new components, assemblies, and systems based on test criteria as established by policies and procedures and/or written test plans
- Maintains accurate records of test results, and provides reports of results to management
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
- Generally, requires Associate’s technical degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Four years of journeyman experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures
- Proven ability to use, maintain and possess required hand tools necessary to perform task assigned.
- Successfully proven knowledge of the principles of electricity and electrical design
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
- Proven ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
- Prove ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Successfully demonstrates a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
- Requires proficiency in MS Office or Windows-based software
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
- State electrician license or certification
- Greater than four years of journeyman experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures
