POSITION SUMMARY:Seasonal position under the direction of the Camp Director, the Group/Floater Counselor will have the camper’s experience as their prime consideration at the YMCA indoor site location. Responsibilities include orientating, instructing and monitoring all participants in the Summer Camp Program setting with an emphasis on safety, inclusivity and development for participants.- Date: June 22 - August 21, 2026- Location: Camp SetonOUR CULTURE: Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.REPORTS TO:Camp DirectorPAY RANGE:$16.94/hour - $18/hourESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSParticipate in a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, opening and closing ceremonies, swimming, sports, etc. This includes time spent on the bus.Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Group Leader and Camp Director.Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.Act as a positive role model and a positive voice for the YMCA of Greenwich. Demonstrate professionalism in the performance of all duties as directed by your supervisors.Participate in weekly off site field trips and activities. QUALIFICATIONS:Over the age of 16 years oldPrior to or upon hire, completion of YMCA provided First Aid/ CPR/AED certification and Medication Administration certification courses.Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.Strong organizational and communication skills.
