Greenwich Academy seeks an outstanding history teacher for its Middle School. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and accessible teacher, dedicated to helping students of all levels challenge themselves to think critically and creatively. A commitment to teaching Middle School students is essential, as is an eagerness to advise and mentor them in all areas of their school lives. Seventh Grade history, where the new teacher’s focus will be, explores the founding of the United States and the early history of the republic. The History and Social Sciences Department at Greenwich Academy seeks to engender a love of learning and an understanding of the richness of cultural, religious, ethnic and racial diversity. Our teachers encourage students to acknowledge and create links between historical events and contemporary circumstances. There is special focus on note-taking and writing skills, as well as an introduction to research.
Successful candidates will be excited to work in a rigorous academic environment and will be eager to immerse themselves in the school community. A commitment to using a variety of teaching strategies is expected. Candidates should be enthusiastic learners themselves and should be committed to sustaining the culture of anti-racism and anti-bias in our community.
