Duties
- Provide one-on-one direct patient care during overnight shifts, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and ensuring patient safety.
- Observe and document patient behaviors, conditions, and responses to care interventions accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Assist with mobility and transfer techniques using equipment such as Hoyer lifts, adhering to safe lifting practices and aseptic techniques.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by nursing staff, maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to relay important information about patient status and needs.
- Respond promptly to patient calls or emergencies using appropriate patient transfer methods and emergency protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control procedures and supporting overall facility safety standards.
Requirements
- Valid state-issued Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) certification or equivalent credential.
- Prior experience working in long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or hospital settings preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and basic nursing procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s), or behavioral health needs is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks) systems for accurate documentation.
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely using proper manual handling techniques; physical stamina for long overnight shifts required.
- Strong communication skills and compassionate caregiving approach to support patients’ emotional and physical needs.
