What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at GreenPod Coffee Packing?
Guide Roasting Company is a local specialty coffee roaster and cafe in Midlothian, VA. We are also home of the GreenPod, a revolutionary, patented technology for producing 100% certified compostable coffee pods. We offer co-packing services of GreenPods for other small businesses, allowing craft coffee roasters across the country to offer a fully sustainable, compostable K-Cup® for their own coffee. We have an excellent opportunity for a Barista to work in our tasting room café. This position will work part-time up to 32 hours per week including most Saturdays. The café is open Mon-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm and Saturdays 7:30am-2:30pm.
The Barista will educate customers on our retail coffee products and help them by making recommendations based on their preferences, taking orders and preparing drinks and light food. Baristas also help with packaging coffee into retail bags and GreenPods into retail boxes and are responsible for keeping the café shelves stocked with our retail products. Additionally, this position is responsible for keeping the cafe and bathrooms neat and clean.
Note: Barista compensation includes full hourly pay plus tip share. Starting pay is based on barista skills and experience with regular increases based on learning new skills and responsibilities. Starting base is $15-$16 an hour and tips average an additional $2-$3 an hour.
Qualifications
· Previous work experience as a Barista (preferred)
· Hands-on experience with brewing equipment (preferred)
· Ability to follow sanitation regulations
· Basic math skills
· Ability to gauge customers’ preferences and discuss coffee
· Excellent communication skills with customers and other employees
· A positive and upbeat attitude and work ethic to lead the cafe team
Pay: $17.50 - $19.50 per hour
