Summer Internship – Government Affairs Intern

Washington, DC | Summer 2026


GreenMet is seeking a Government Affairs Intern to support our work at the intersection of critical minerals, energy security, and U.S. public policy.

This role offers hands-on experience in government affairs and legislative strategy within a fast-moving, high-impact sector.


What You’ll Do:

  • Track and analyze federal and state legislation, regulatory developments, and policy trends related to critical minerals and energy
  • Monitor news, hearings, and geopolitical developments impacting supply chains and resource security
  • Attend in-person meetings with Congressional offices, federal agencies, and industry stakeholders
  • Draft policy briefs, memos, and internal updates for senior leadership
  • Support the development of legislative strategies and stakeholder engagement efforts
  • Work directly with the VP of Operations on priority initiatives


What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong interest in government, public policy, energy, or natural resources
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex information quickly and communicate clearly
  • Professional demeanor and comfort in external-facing environments
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
  • Based in or able to work in Washington, DC for the summer


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or experience in political science, international relations, economics, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Capitol Hill, federal agencies, or the legislative process
  • Interest in critical minerals, mining, or industrial policy


Compensation:

This is an unpaid internship for academic credit (candidates must be eligible to receive credit through their university)
