About the Organization Greenlight Networks is an ultra-high-speed, broadband service provider, offering residential and small business customers Internet speeds of up to 8 Gigabits per second. Greenlight Networks was founded in 2011 and builds, owns, and operates a fiber-optic network that provides extremely high-speed Internet connections. The company's high-speed fiber internet network is currently available to more than 225,000 homes and nearly 10,000 small businesses in 35 municipalities in the Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Rochester, and Hudson Valley regions of New York, with construction underway in Northeast and South-Central Pennsylvania and across the City of Baltimore.

Greenlight Networks, a growth technology company with a mission of connecting communities by delivering the best internet experiences, is actively recruiting a Field Engineering Intern for the summer 2026 semester. This is an office-based internship working out of our headquarters in Buffalo, NY.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with contacting property owners regarding easement requests for aerial or underground facility placement
- Support the explanation of the easement process and help answer basic questions from property owners.
- Help gather and organize required documentation and signatures for easement processing.
- Participate in community events and outreach efforts to learn about customer education and engagement.
- Track and update easement status information under supervision to support project timelines.
- Collect geo-located photos of utility poles and assist in documenting attachment heights.
- Help review field data for accuracy and report discrepancies to team members.
- Learn to identify basic electric and communications equipment on utility poles.
- Collaborate with team members across departments to support network buildout activities.
- Perform additional tasks and administrative support as assigned.
- Practical experience supporting real-world network buildout projects while learning how field engineering and construction intersect.
- Hands-on exposure to easement processes, utility pole infrastructure, and field data collection tools used across the telecommunications industry.
- Strengthened communication, organization, and cross-department collaboration skills through direct interaction with engineering teams, construction teams, and property owners.
- Strong interest in telecommunications, engineering, or construction management.
- Basic organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with guidance.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Comfortable using computers and learning tools such as MS Office, Google Earth, and other software platforms.
- Willingness to learn and apply feedback in a professional setting.
- Professional and respectful communication with team members and external contacts.
- Ability to travel within company markets as needed (with supervision).
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, GIS, Construction Management, or a related field.
- No prior experience required, but previous employment at any level is a plus; relevant coursework or extracurricular experience is a plus.
