Human Resources Generalist (Construction / Compliance-Focused)
Location: Lowell, MA | Full-Time
About Greener Group Greener Group is a family-owned construction company with over 36 years of experience delivering high-quality site work, utilities, landscape construction, outside maintenance, and snow management services across both public and private sector work.
Why this role matters This is not a corporate HR desk role. This is a hands-on position supporting the day-to-day HR function of a growing construction company with real ownership over compliance, payroll coordination, recruiting, employee relations, and workforce programs.
What You’ll Do
· Manage full-cycle recruiting, job postings, screening, onboarding, and employment documentation.
· Process payroll and support timekeeping systems including Paycom, Exact Time, Quickbooks, Yeti and Knowify.
· Administer benefits, COBRA, FMLA/PFML, workers’ compensation, and leave tracking.
· Prepare and maintain OSHA, DOT, EEOC, prevailing wage, and certified payroll compliance records.
· Maintain HR files, audits, reporting, and employee status changes with a high level of accuracy.
· Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers on policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
· Support H-2B program administration, documentation, and coordination as needed.
What We’re Looking For
· 3–7 years of HR experience, preferably in construction, field services, logistics, or similar operational environments.
· Strong working knowledge of payroll, compliance, benefits administration, and employee relations.
· Experience with MA employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, PFML, COBRA, OSHA, DOT, and EEOC requirements.
· High attention to detail, confidentiality, follow-through, and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
· Experience with H-2B, prevailing wage, certified payroll, or audit-ready compliance is highly valued.
Compensation
· $75,000–$85,000 base salary for a fully functional HR Generalist in this scope.
· Expanded range of $70,000–$95,000 depending on experience depth, compliance ownership, and construction-industry fit.
