Greene Grape Provisions - Stock/Porter Job Description
The Provisions Stock Person / Shift Porter is responsible for overseeing daily stocking, receiving, and cleaning responsibilities in the store. The Stock Person stocks items for the grocery, beverage, frozen, and dairy departments. The Shift Porter maintains a clean work environment for every department and assists with catering and grocery deliveries. The ideal candidate is a self starter who enjoys working in a fast paced environment. This position reports directly to the Stock and Receiving Manager, and receives additional instruction from the Grocery Buyer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper rotation of all products, constantly checking dates and organizing with FIFO rules.
- Rotate walk-ins and freezers on a daily basis, practicing FIFO.
- Responsible for keeping all shelves well stocked, and properly signed
- Merchandise all shelves and displays
- Ensure cleanliness for entire store - both sales floor and basement - by sweeping, mopping, dusting, and performing other tasks as needed
- Perform walking deliveries throughout Fort Greene neighborhood
Additional Responsibilities:
- Report low or out of stock items to Floor Managers and Buyers
- Breakdown of cardboard boxes on a daily basis
- Complete miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned by Stock/Receiving Manager and Floor Managers
Qualifications:
- Ability to work, nights, and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and operate a hand truck (on the job training provided)
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Schedule is Monday to Friday, sometimes on the weekends.
