High School Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Teacher
Location: Greene County High School, Jefferson, Iowa
Job Type: Full-Time, 190 day contract

Job Overview
Greene County High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Teacher to join our high school faculty. The ideal candidate will equip students with essential life skills, focusing on human/child development, personal finance, nutrition, culinary arts, apparel, family dynamics, work based experience. This role involves developing engaging, hands-on curricula that meet Iowa's Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards, while fostering a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and career readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum & Instruction: Design, plan, and deliver engaging FCS coursework. Subjects may include Foods and Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Child Development, Personal Finance, Fashion/Textiles, and Family Dynamics.
- Classroom Management: Create a safe, inclusive, and highly functioning classroom and laboratory environment (e.g., managing kitchen stations, sewing equipment, and classroom supplies).
- Standards Alignment: Ensure all instructional materials and assessments align with Iowa CTE standards and local district curriculum goals.
- Student Leadership (FCCLA): Serve as the advisor for the local chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), encouraging student participation in leadership events and community service.
- Assessment & Reporting: Continually monitor, assess, and report student progress to parents, administration, and students through the district's grading system.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other CTE educators, school counselors, and administration to promote career pathways and work-based learning opportunities for students.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid Iowa teaching license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE).
- Endorsement 139: 5-12 Family & Consumer Sciences - General Certifications: Up-to-date Iowa Mandatory Reporter Training (Child and Dependent Adult Abuse) and CPR/First Aid certification, as required by state regulations.

- Experience: Previous student teaching or professional teaching experience at the secondary level is preferred.
