What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Grounds Maintenance Worker (Internal Posting) position at Greene County Board of Commissioners?
The full performance level class works under general supervision & requires considerable knowledge of grounds keeping in order to perform skilled & semi-skilled grounds maintenance duties. Serves as a crew leader (direction and training) over lower-level workers.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week; rotating schedule-may include weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
Performs grounds maintenance duties on all Greene County parks, Greene County Park District parks, all County Commissioner facilities and all County bikeways including removal of snow and ice from walks, driveways, park roadways, County parking lots and spreading salt on public passage ways. Operates County vehicles, light to heavy equipment (dump trucks, tractors, loaders, mowers, Bobcats, etc.), pulls and backs trailers on roadways in the execution of duties.
Performs a variety of basic routine work in trade areas such as plumbing, concrete work, carpentry, painting, asphalting, signage development, construction and installation. Adds, installs and/or repairs items on site.
Assigns work, ensures work crews have needed daily supplies and equipment and trains crew members on the use of equipment, assists in projecting needs for equipment, materials and supplies, assist in the interview process for new applicants.
Assists other divisions of the department, the County and the general public in setting up and taking down equipment for department, park and general public programs and activities, prepares facilities for park, department and general public activities, opens, closes, locks and unlocks facilities.
Operates and performs routine preventative maintenance and washes and cleans equipment used to carry out responsibilities.
Greets the public and answers questions when needed and performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); 24 mos. experience in grounds keeping activities & use of associated equipment (e.g., applying sprays, planting, transplanting, pruning, trimming, and snow removal); valid Ohio Driver’s License.

Predictable and regular attendance is required.
Stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
May be subjected to moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals. Works outside under all weather conditions; may work with potentially dangerous equipment & chemicals; exposed to dead animals.
