Custodian - Full Time

Greenbush – The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Custodian at the Greenbush Main Campus - Girard.

Anticipated Start Date: ASAP  

Job Summary: Provides a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment to ensure full and productive use of facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: 

1. High school diploma or certificate of equivalency.
2. Must be dependable, flexible, and team-oriented.
3. Must be able to work independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Essential Functions:

1. Keep the building and premises neat and clean at all times.
2. Wipe and disinfect all tables used in classrooms and meeting rooms.
3. Clean main area floors daily and office areas once a week. Empty trash cans, replace bags, and deposit trash in the dumpster.
4. Pick up all recyclables as needed and keep the recycled area neat and organized.
5. Clean drinking fountains daily.
6. Clean all bathrooms daily including mopping floors, cleaning, and disinfecting all fixtures, restocking supplies, cleaning mirrors, etc.
7. Clean exterior doors and front window glass as needed.
8. Sweep and mop kitchen floors daily.
9. Appropriately operate all equipment as required.
10. Secure buildings at the end of the day.

General Responsibilities:

1. Spot-clean carpet as needed.
2. Report any light bulbs that have gone out.
3. Annually wipe down the baseboards.
4. Must support the Service Center's mission, goals, and objectives.
5. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
6. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
7. Must demonstrate proficiency in the ability to produce excellent work as requested by the executive team,
8. Must assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices,
9. Must demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with Service Center employees and constituents.
10. Must complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by the Supervisor.
11. Must meet all safety requirements as directed by the Service Center.
12. Must perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Requires prolonged standing.
2. Manages all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
3. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
4. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending turning, reaching, climbing, and balancing.
5. Occasional ladder climbing.
6. Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
