JOB SUMMARY

The MIECHV Parents as Teachers (PAT) Educator is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based home visiting services to pregnant women and families with young children as part of the MIECHV grant. Using the Parents as Teachers model, the educator promotes child development and school readiness, strengthens parenting capacity, and enhances family well-being through personal visits, screenings, resource connections, and group engagements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
Job-related experience within the specialized field is required.
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Valid driver's license for employment.
Successful completion of the Defensive Driving course, provided by RCDC.
Background Clearance.

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, psychology, public health, or related field.
Experience working in early childhood, health or human services and or home visiting experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:
    Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
    Deliver home visits using the Parents as Teachers curriculum, tailored to meet family strengths, needs, and cultures.
    Support the implementation of the MIECHV model, emphasizing whole-child, whole-family well-being, and health equity.
    Conduct regular developmental and health screenings using standardized tools (e.g., ASQ-3, ASQ:SE-2, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Life Skills Progression).
    Promote safe home environments, healthy pregnancies, strong parent-child attachment, and responsive parenting practices.
    Assist caregivers in building skills to support their child’s development, behavior, regulation, and daily routines.
    Develop individualized family goals and track progress through ongoing visits and documentation.
    Identify and respond to family needs with appropriate referrals to community services.
    Participate in well-child visits or coordinate with medical providers to align on child and family health needs.
    Support data collection and entry requirements as defined by the MIECHV benchmark performance system.
    Attend required trainings, reflective supervision, and staff meetings to ensure fidelity to the PAT model and MIECHV grant.
    Participate in group connections and community outreach to increase awareness of early childhood services.
    Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to build strong service networks for families.
    Provide educational materials in accessible formats aligned with caregiver learning preferences.
    Maintain timely and accurate documentation in electronic systems to support reporting, compliance, and evaluation.
    Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA standards.
General Responsibilities:
    Maintain timely documentation.
    Support the mission, goals, and objectives of RCDC.
    Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
    Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.
    Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.
    Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with research and practices.
    Demonstrate proficiency in effectively and regularly communicating with other employees of RCDC and clients.
    Complete all assignments timely manner, including communication with other staff and clients, or contractors.
    Adhere to all professional guidelines as outlined in agency policies.
    Independently manage daily assignments and activities, ensuring performance outcomes are achieved within budget, timeline, department, and agency objectives.
    Follow all safety requirements as directed by RCDC.
    Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    70 % sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing
    Lifting up to 30 pounds.
    Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
    Sit/stand for long periods.
    Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.
    The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard-free environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Experience: Job-related experience within increasing levels of responsibility within the specialized field is required.

Responsible to: MIECHV Grant Coordinator

Supervises: N/A

Terms of Employment: Salary, work schedule, and vacation to be established by the RCDC Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.

Evaluation: As determined by the Chief Executive Officer or designee, following agency guidelines.
