(GHC ECC) is a private, not-for-profit preschool offering a warm, nurturing, and emotionally supportive environment. Located in the lower level of the Greenburgh Hebrew Center, our program fosters creativity, respect, and a love of learning in young children.
Position Overview
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to support our preschool classrooms. The ideal candidate is warm, collaborative, and passionate about early childhood education.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Must arrive by 8:45 AM to greet families and students
- Optional lunch coverage from 12:00 PM–2:00 PM ($30 compensation for those hours)
Key Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision and direction of the Lead Teacher and Director
- Support daily classroom activities and routines
- Treat all children with dignity, patience, and respect
- Provide care and guidance to meet children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs
- Assist with indoor and outdoor supervision
- Help prepare snacks and cooking projects
- Set up learning centers and prepare classroom materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Assist with toileting/diapering and general housekeeping tasks
- Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is briefly out of the room
- Assist during arrival and dismissal
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- Experience working with young children
- Warm, nurturing, and patient demeanor
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and punctual
