ABOUT US
GSS is an environmental services company operating throughout New England. We specialize in petroleum remediation, contaminated soil excavation, tank cleaning and closure, emergency spill response, hazardous waste disposal, and asbestos remediation. Our team takes pride in delivering safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a full-time, field-based position for a motivated, safety-conscious individual ready to do meaningful work. As a Field Technician / Laborer, you’ll work hands-on on environmental remediation and construction projects across New England — performing physical site work, operating equipment, completing field documentation, responding to emergency response calls (as part of a rotating on-call team). No two days are the same.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Perform hands-on labor on site remediation and environmental construction projects throughout New England
- Operate heavy equipment and company vehicles in support of daily project activities
- Execute confined space entry procedures in full PPE including full-face respirator
- Complete real-time daily field paperwork: timesheets, waste manifests, and daily worksheets
- Communicate regularly with project managers and operations to stay on schedule
- Respond to after-hours emergency operations as part of a rotating on-call team (1 week in 4)
- Perform all work in accordance with GSS health, safety, and environmental policies
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Valid driver’s license in good standing — age 21 preferred to avoid interstate driving restrictions
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred; must be willing to complete training if not already certified
- Experience with hazmat or environmental field work is a plus — not required; we’ll train the right person
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role: lifting, carrying, crawling, climbing, stooping, confined space work
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time to remote project sites across New England
- Rotating on-call availability — once every four weeks, with advance notice.
- Reliable, safety-first mindset and a team-first attitude
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive pay emergency response bonus
- 401(k) with company match
- Health insurance coverage
- A collaborative, team-oriented work environment
- Opportunity to grow with an expanding company doing work that matters
