Clinical Director (Outpatient Behavioral Health)

Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 per year
About the Role
We are seeking a licensed Clinical Director to lead and grow an outpatient behavioral health program in Vermont. This role is ideal for a strong clinician who can balance direct client care, team leadership, and program development, including supporting a new program launch and accreditation process.
The Clinical Director will play a key role in building clinical excellence, developing staff, and ensuring compliance with state and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to a team of therapists and clinicians
- Maintain an active individual caseload and provide group therapy sessions
- Deliver clinical supervision to licensed and pre-licensed staff in accordance with Vermont requirements
- Lead and support program development and startup operations, including workflow design and service delivery models
- Assist with accreditation preparation and compliance with The Joint Commission
- Ensure high-quality clinical documentation, treatment planning, and utilization review
- Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing staff training and performance management
- Manage complex clinical cases and risk situations
- Collaborate with executive leadership on growth strategy and operational alignment
- Monitor and improve clinical outcomes and quality assurance metrics
Qualifications
- Active, independent clinical license in Vermont (LICSW, LCMHC, LMFT, or equivalent)
- 3 years of clinical experience in mental health and/or substance use treatment
- Experience providing clinical supervision (required)
- Prior leadership or management experience strongly preferred
- Experience with program development, startup environments, or accreditation processes is a plus
- Strong understanding of outpatient behavioral health operations and compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
