Job Overview
Back of house associates role focused entirely on back-of-house operations. Working under the Inventory Manager, you’ll keep product moving accurately through the store — from vendor intake and processing through restock, online order fulfillment, and organized storage across the sales floor and vault. Spot audits and weekly cycle counts are part of the regular rhythm of the role, and the integrity of the store’s inventory records depends on this work being done right. In a regulated operation, that makes accuracy and consistency here as critical as anything happening on the sales floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Restock the sales floor and maintain organized back-stock throughout the shift
- Process incoming inventory, including labeling and product preparation
- Assist the Inventory Manager with product intake from vendors, including verification against manifests
- Fulfill and stage online orders accurately and efficiently
- Organize and maintain product storage on the sales floor and in the vault
- Rotate stock using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) methods and monitor product dates, flagging items approaching expiration to the Inventory Manager for prioritized handling
- Perform spot audits and weekly cycle counts across assigned product categories
- Flag low stock, damaged product, or labeling issues to the Inventory Manager promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role
Compliance Responsibilities
- Handle all products per company handling, packaging, labeling, and storage SOPs
- Support inventory accuracy standards, ensuring counts and records reconcile with the inventory system of record
- Follow chain-of-custody procedures for all product movement between receiving, vault, and sales floor
- Immediately report count discrepancies, suspected diversion, or damaged/quarantined product to the Inventory Manager
- Complete all required training on time, including state-mandated Responsible Vendor Training
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready back-of-house at all times
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be able to obtain and maintain registration as a dispensary agent with the Maryland Cannabis Administration, including successful completion of a criminal background check
- Must complete state-mandated Responsible Vendor Training within sixty (60) days of hire and maintain annual renewal
- High school diploma or equivalent Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail Comfortable with repetitive precision tasks: counting, labeling, and data entry
- Basic math skills and comfort performing simple calculations accurately
- Self-directed work style — able to stay productive and accurate with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior inventory, stockroom, warehouse, or fulfillment experience
- Familiarity with inventory management or POS systems (METRC/Dutchie a plus)
- Experience with cycle counts or inventory audits
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to a full shift)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. regularly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motion
