Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENSTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or inclusive. Other duties may be required as assigned.
- Drive ADRC vehicles transporting participants to and from various services and activities within and outside of the county.
- Perform vehicle inspection prior to the trip, refuel as necessary, and promptly report needed repairs or vehicle concerns to ADRC staff.
- Provide stand-by or hands-on assistance to passengers when needed for exiting and entering the vehicle; but will not lift or carry passengers.
- Assist passengers in the use of seat belts, operation and use of accessible lift, and any other safety or accessible devices, such as wheelchair securement.
- Use manual override feature of accessible lift if the power does not work.
- Maneuver wheelchair with individual in the wheelchair.
- Accurately complete documentation for transportation services.
- Report observations and any incidents to appropriate ADRC staff.
- Ensure the confidentiality of passenger's information and refrain from divulging any information to anyone other than the staff of the ADRC.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles.
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or its equivalency.
- Safe driving record as indicated by the Department of Transportation.
- Experience working with elderly or disabled persons preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Good driving record as verified with DOT.

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to retain and convey information regarding routes and participants.
- Ability to consistently communicate effectively and professionally with Green County citizens, clientele, employees, and officials.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to discern when a situation needs to come to the attention of ADRC staff.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Good vision is required for driving.
