BROAD RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Environmental Services oversees all aspects of environmental services operations across two campuses, offsite housing, and administrative offices to ensure facilities remain clean, sanitary, safe, and compliant with environmental and workplace safety standards. Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to managing housekeeping operations, environmental inspections, sanitation programs, regulatory compliance, budget oversight, vendor management, staff supervision, payroll and time-off approvals, oversight of resident clothing orders and the commercial laundry room, cross-departmental collaboration, emergency planning, department analysis, audits to track improvements, evaluation of equipment for efficiency and cost savings, balancing reactive and proactive maintenance efforts, and incorporating green cleaning standards where appropriate. This position is not limited to administrative responsibilities. The Director is expected to maintain a regular presence in the field to supervise staff, monitor cleaning standards, manage inventory, perform quality assurance inspections, and assist with environmental services tasks when operational needs require.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Environmental Services, Hospitality Management, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Candidate without a degree but with equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in environmental services, housekeeping operations, or facilities support, preferably in healthcare, residential programs, schools, camps, or institutional settings.
- Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience overseeing environmental services or housekeeping staff.
Licensure/Certification:
- 10-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification a plus.
- Valid driver’s license
- CPR certification or the ability to become certified (optional)
Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance):
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk, talk, hear, and type.
- Must have the ability to be present in a hectic environment, often under pressure.
- Must have the ability to regularly lift up to 30lbs.
This is a full time role with a salary range from $60,000- $70,000 annually depending on experience. Competitive benefits and time off are also offered to the incumbent.
