Clinical Feeding Specialist | Central South Dallas (SLP only)

JOB TITLE: CLINICAL FEEDING SPECIALIST

REPORTS TO: Clinical Team Leader

JOB OVERVIEW: The Clinical Feeding Specialist is a career enrichment opportunity available to qualified Clinicians as determined by company needs. Clinical Feeding Specialists are responsible for the successful implementation of the feeding program in their respective divisions as well as the direct mentorship of feeding therapists in their immediate and surrounding areas. They contribute to and uphold the company’s policies and procedures on best practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Communicates clearly with referral coordinators to staff patients to appropriately skilled therapists and mentors as needed

• Attends monthly meetings as Clinical Feeding Specialist with state-wide team

• Collaborates with Clinical Feeding Program Director and/or Clinical Feeding Specialist team members 1x/month or every-other-month for visits/evaluations

• Provides mentorship and guidance to CLMs/therapists to complete competency checks with Knowledge and Skills job aid

• Provides mentorship visits via face-to-face or via telehealth 1-4x/weekly for therapists as needed

• Provides consultations via telehealth (attending partial visits) or via phone discussions

• Provides evidenced-based resources to therapists as needed for patient care (ex. emails of therapy suggestions, handouts from past courses, handouts of normative values, etc.)

• Holds monthly meetings with division feeding therapists (including those who would like to develop feeding skills) to provide company-wide feeding updates, patient 360s, article reviews, or continuing education opportunities

• Reviews feeding evaluation documentation for division and provides feedback via e-mail or consultations for corrections, with focus on reaching sustainable quality in order that CLM can take over the review

• Delivers ongoing development/mentorship of feeding documentation review for CLMs

• Partners with CLM to identify field therapists who are qualified to mentor others (completed competency skills check) for sustainability

• Contributes content to or is primary presenter of continuing education course 1x/year (includes monthly meetings, company-wide CE presentation, or outside presentation)

• Contributes to the updating of policies, procedures, documentation changes, and the development of resources for field staff

• Attends marketing events as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of an accredited program of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy.

• Currently licensed and approved to practice physical, speech, or occupational therapy in the State of Texas.

• Maintains appropriate credentialing as determined by his/her national discipline organization.

• Demonstrates a broad base of clinical knowledge in his/her discipline to serve as the initial line of clinical support for therapists.

• Must be physically and legally able to operate a vehicle in the State of Texas.

Position is considered to have opportunity for routine exposure to blood borne pathogens in the normal performance of job duties.

What you’ll need:

-A current/active license to practice Speech Language Pathology in the state of Texas.

-An innovative spirit complemented by a demonstrated history of reliability.

-Ability to use common workplace technology (laptop computer, phone, email, web browser).

Bonus points for:

-3 years as a pediatric Speech Language Pathologist

-Experience in a home-health setting.

-Experience or certifications in feeding therapy or other clinical specialties (VitalStim, etc.)

-Bilingual (English/Spanish)
