Ice Cream Scooper/Drink Maker

ABOUT US:
Green Acres Food Truck Park is a fun outdoor venue right on the Greenbelt in Downtown Boise. We host rotating food trucks, live music every night, yard games and fun community events where people can eat, drink and enjoy being outside.

We're looking for high-energy, fun, adaptable and responsible people to join our team to be an Ice Cream Scooper/Drink Maker in The Lemon Cow Ice Cream & Lemonade shop. In addition, we are hiring one Day Lead and one Night Lead with expanded responsibilities.

The Lemon Cow is a small Ice Cream & Lemonade Shop that offers ice cream by the scoop as well as fresh squeezed lemonade (and other beverages.)

Primary Duties include (not a comprehensive list)

• Provide friendly, efficient customer service
• Scoop ice cream and prepare beverages according to quality standards
• Operate the point‑of‑sale (POS) system and handle customer transactions
• Maintain cleanliness of the shop, workstations, and guest areas
• Assist with restocking supplies and inventory organization
• Support general park maintenance (yard games, furniture adjustments, trash, general cleaning)

Required Qualifications:

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to stay calm and efficient in a very high traffic fast‑paced environment. Someone that can handle high volume and maintain high quality service while still having fun.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all seasonal conditions (including summer heat!). Must enjoy working in an outdoor setting alongside the Greenbelt scenery as well as share an appreciation for our local food truck and live music scene.
• Ability to work on your feet for 5 hours
• Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs (ice cream tubs, supplies, yard games)
• Comfortable working in a small, shared workspace (our business is in a renovated shipping container)
• Reliable attendance and punctuality—especially for open and close shifts

Experience in food service, dessert shops, coffee, or beverage service is a plus but not required.

Customer service is a top priority for this role. Being a family owned small business - each person hired is an important contribution to our growing business and plays an important role in creating the special experience of hanging out at our special park by the Greenbelt.

Timeframe:

• Green Acres is a seasonal business so this role would be active from Friday, May 1st until Sunday, October 13th. Our park is open Tuesday through Sunday from around 11am-9:30pm (times vary depending on day of the week and month).
• We are looking for full time and part time positions and are hiring multiple people for this role.

In addition to hiring this Ice cream scooper/drink maker role, we are also looking for one person to be a day lead and a 2nd person to be a night lead.

Schedule Expectations for leads:

Day Lead

• Consistent opener, 5 days per week (Wednesday–Sunday)
• Arrival time typically 9:30–10:00am
• Responsible for opening setup and early operations

Night Lead

• Consistent closer, 5 days per week (Wednesday–Sunday)
• Closing shifts typically end by 10:30pm, but could be later on busier weekends.
• Responsible for shutdown, cleaning, and securing the space

Lead roles are hourly roles that perform the same work as the rest of the team but will have additional responsibilities:

• Ensure operational checklists have been executed accurately and on time
• Ensure the shop and surrounding park area are properly set up or secured
• Support cash handling procedures (starting drawers, cash drops when applicable)
• Help facilitate communication between team members during the shift
• Serve as a point of contact for musicians, vendors, or reservations as needed
• Assist with on‑the‑job training and support of new team members
• Identify and escalate any operational or guest issues to management
• Help maintain a positive, organized, and efficient work environment

Lead roles are not management positions but crucial supporting operational roles!

Pay:

• Ice Cream Scooper/Drink Maker: Based on previous seasons, total compensation was an average of $21 per hour from combining base hourly wage tips.

Tips and total earnings vary by shift.

• Day Lead / Night Lead: Based on previous seasons, total compensation was an average of $24 per hour from combining base hourly wage tips.

Tips and total earnings vary by shift.
