The Mold/Melt Supervisor is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures established and set for the Mold Department.
What You'll Do:
- Supervise daily operations within the mold/melt department, ensuring safety, quality, and production targets are consistently met.
- Partner with Maintenance to ensure all equipment is properly maintained; initiate and follow up on work orders as needed.
- Ensure all production activities adhere to established process sheets and standard operating procedures.
- Recommend and implement process improvements, with approval from the Foundry Manager and Operations Manager.
- Oversee daily mold/melt operations, including shift transitions, weekend shutdown procedures, and department security.
- Manage material availability by coordinating and ordering supplies to support efficient operations, with proper approvals.
- Review and submit accurate shift documentation, including production, downtime, staffing, and performance reports.
- Lead incident investigations, complete accident reports, and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Train, coach, and develop employees on mold/melt processes; support cross-training to enhance workforce flexibility.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality by actively participating in meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Inspect and audit tooling before production; coordinate repairs or replacements when tooling is not production-ready.
- Monitor employee performance throughout the shift, ensuring compliance with procedures and addressing performance issues as needed.

- High School Diploma plus apprenticeship or related associate degree, or equivalent.
- Two years’ experience in a heavy metal manufacturing environment, foundry preferred
- Requires great attention to detail and accuracy to avoid errors that would cause delay or dissatisfaction.
- Moderate physical exertion. Able to lift up to 40 pounds. Physical movement includes some repetitive motion, with twisting and bending.
- Must be willing and able to wear all required PPE. (Safety goggles, hearing protection, steel-toe non-slip safety shoes, and gloves as needed when on the shop floor.)
