Greater Washington Partnership (the Partnership) is a cross-sector alliance of leading employers in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia committed to championing the region’s economic growth and prosperity. The Partnership seeks a skilled and motivated individual with knowledge, experience, and interest in public policy, government affairs, and advocacy. Reporting to the Manager, Policy & Initiatives, this individual will be given meaningful assignments to both support and enhance the Partnership’s relationships with public sector leaders and to develop a range of skills including research and writing, professional communication, and policy analysis.
The Partnership’s Policy & Initiatives team collaborates with policymakers across the region’s jurisdictions to drive sustained growth through engagement in issues related to education & workforce development, transportation & infrastructure, and economic growth.
The Policy Intern will work a part-time schedule not to exceed 24 hours per week, with specific hours and days of the week determined prior to hire. This role is hybrid and requires a mix of remote and in-person work at the Partnership’s office. The selected intern will receive an hourly wage of $20.
Core Responsibilities
· Research and track legislative action, policy issues, and current events at the congressional, state, and local levels related to Partnership priorities.
· Facilitate stakeholder management, including organizing engagement opportunities and drafting internal and external Partnership communications.
· Utilize Monday.com, Salesforce, and other tools to track deliverables for team initiatives.
· Collaborate with Partnership staff to develop advocacy strategies for upcoming state legislative sessions in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and in Congress.
· Provide readouts and key insights from internal and external meetings, briefings, and events.
· Assist with planning, preparation, and staffing for policy-related Partnership meetings and events.
· General administrative support to the Policy & Initiatives team.
