Duties
- Provide peer support by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivate clients toward positive change
- Conduct crisis management and intervention to de-escalate situations and ensure client safety using trauma-informed techniques
- Assist clients with behavioral health challenges, including mental health counseling and addiction recovery strategies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized recovery plans that incorporate harm reduction principles
- Maintain strict client confidentiality while documenting interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Engage with culturally diverse communities to promote inclusive support services tailored to individual backgrounds and needs
- Mentor clients through the recovery process, offering guidance on coping skills, community resources, and self-advocacy
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Peer Support Specialist from an accredited organization or agency
- High School Diploma/GED, or Associates Degree
- Reliable transportation
- Valid Drive License
- Valid Vehicle Insurance Coverage
- Lived experience with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders is essential
- Demonstrated skills in crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavioral health support
- Strong communication skills for effective client engagement and client advocacy
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations and understanding of cultural competence in mental health care
- Knowledge of addiction counseling, harm reduction strategies, and social work principles is highly desirable
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies
