GRCSU Substitute Teachers and Substitute Paraeducators- Are you passionate about education and making a difference in students' lives? We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Substitute Teachers and Paraeducators. Positions are available within our 8 locations-Middletown Springs Elementary School; Poultney Elementary and High School; Proctor Elementary and High School; Rutland Town School; Wells Village School, and West Rutland School.
Substitute Teachers: Provides instructional support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher by implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a positive learning environment. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students while maintaining a professional and confidential approach to all school-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher.
· Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.
· Support the academic and social-emotional needs of all students.
· Adapt to various grade levels, subject areas, and classroom routines as needed.
· Communicate effectively with students and staff to ensure continuity of learning.
Paraeducators: Provides temporary support in the absence of regular paraprofessional staff by assisting classroom teachers and students in daily instructional and behavioral activities. Works flexibly and effectively within a diverse school environment, supporting curriculum delivery and promoting a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere. Maintains strict confidentiality in all student, classroom, and school-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
· Support teachers and students in classroom and special education settings.
· Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs in classroom, small group or individual settings
· Implement established behavior management procedures and classroom routines.
· Adapt quickly to different classroom settings and student needs.
· Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Substitute Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
· Prior classroom, instructional, or childcare experience preferred but not required
· Patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills
· Ability to pass Fingerprinting and Federal background screening
· Must have reliable transportation and be able to keep your commitment to accepted assignments
