POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage claims and loss prevention programs of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA). Oversee all claims activities, that include, but are not limited to, liability, property (first and third party), and workers compensation. Responsible for pursuing recovery of claims from third parties, such as, damage recovery, indemnity and insurance compliance (from airlines, tenants, contractors). Oversight of staff and team of adjustors for claims investigation and defense, including, but not limited to request to production, response to interrogatories, deposition and mediation coordination, response to subpoenas. Provide in-depth reporting on claims metrics and communicate results to leadership. Assist the Vice President with comprehensive risk and claims management programs and support the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) to facilitate optimal recovery.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree in business or a related field and six (6) years experience in risk management, loss prevention, claims litigation, claims management, claims adjusting with significant loss exposure; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Supervisory experience required. Experience in evaluating and reporting on claim trends and implementing mitigation strategies preferred. Supervision of claims staff and claims litigation required.
- Subject matter expert in bodily injury evaluation, claim valuation, claims litigation and regulatory compliance, with Florida Public entity experience a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Office
- Knowledge of best practices in claims management including claims litigation for liability, property and builders risk losses, worker’s compensation and other coverages
- Knowledge of recoveries from third parties and tracking mechanisms
- Ability to communicate risk and defense strategies effectively with Authority’s corporate and defense attorneys and limitations and settlement process with plaintiff attorneys, and with leadership on progress of litigated matters
- Knowledge of damage assessment and recovery processes, especially in coordination with emergency response and recovery (FEMA a plus)
- Multi-lines insurance experience
- Demonstrated ability to research, develop and implement loss prevention and recovery programs and drills
- Demonstrated knowledge of loss prevention, operations, business analysis, project management, implementation and training
- Financial and insurance-related analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills at all levels to achieve risk management and organizational goals
- Capable of creating new processes, streamlining existing processes and combining processes to improve operational efficiencies
- Must be able and willing to work both standard and non-standard work schedules, including weekends to accommodate airport operations
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) Certification in 100, 200, 300, 700 and 800 certifications are a plus.
- OSHA, Safety related, ARM, ARM-P, or CRM–P or CPCU certifications desired
- All Lines Adjustors (440) license preferred
