Greater Ohio Virtual School Executive Director/Superintendent Exempt
Qualifications:
1. Ohio Administrative, Supervisor, Superintendent and/or Special Education Certification.
2. Master’s degree in education.
3. Minimum of three years of experience in one of the areas to be supervised.
4. Effective communication skills in English.
5. Pass criminal background check.
Supervises:
All employees associated with special education, including intervention specialists, school psychologist, and related service personnel. Supervision will include employees associated with mental health services, English learners, workforce development coordinator, and resource coordinator. This position will be located at the Greater Ohio Virtual School Student Center.
Essential Functions:
1. Possesses a unique level of expertise and knowledge in special education law, services, and programs with a particular focus on at-risk youth.
2. Projects a positive image of the Greater Ohio Virtual School
3. Represents Greater Ohio Virtual School as liaison in all ODEW and regional special education activities.
4. Serves as the district homeless and foster care liaison.
5. Leads the school intervention team (Student Support Team) to provide additional supports to students
6. Ensures compliance with all rules and requirements outlined under Section 504.
7. Completes all required special education reporting to the state and sponsor.
8. Attends IEP and other meetings, as appropriate.
9. Assists with supervision of the GOVS Student Center
10. Reports evidence of child abuse as required by law.
11. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions and conduct and serves as a positive role model for others.
12. Serves as an instructional and curriculum leader and resource for staff and provides them with support.
13. Demonstrates professionalism, maintains a positive work attitude, and promotes a positive work environment.
14. Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
15. Communicates effectively with students, staff, and parents.
16. Participates in appropriate professional growth opportunities.
17. Respects personal privacy and maintains confidentiality of privileged information not subject to public record laws.
18. Works with staff to ensure the implementation of services mandated by state and federal law.
19. Interprets and enforces Board Policies, administrative regulations, and state and federal special education mandates.
20. Keeps abreast of new trends, legal requirements, and training programs and offers professional development to staff, as appropriate.
21. Works closely with the Treasurer’s office to create and monitor program budgets.
22. Skillfully manages individual, group, and organizational interactions.
23. Interprets information accurately and initiates effective responses.
24. Provides leadership and support to related services staff.
25. Maintains high expectations for student and staff conduct and enforces discipline, as necessary, and works to maintain a safe environment for all.
26. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serves as a role model for educators and students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
2. Helps instill in students and staff the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
3. Shall perform such other duties as the Governing Board may assign/determine.
4. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the County/District.
5. Observes Risk Reduction Safety Rules and Regulations of the Warren County ESC and School Districts, State, Federal OSHA laws and will be evaluated to the extent of compliance and implementation as an employee of such rules and regulations for safety in the workplace while visiting such sites in line of work duties.
