Senior Medical Director – Primary Care
****$20,000 – Sign-On Bonus, Plus Incentives****
Full-Time Flexible Schedule - 40 hours (5-8's or 4-10's)
Clinic Hours: Weekdays 8:00AM-7:00PM, Saturdays* 8:00AM-4:30PM (Urgent Care only)
NBCH is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Senior Medical Director (SMD) to join our team at the New Bedford Community Health Center. The SMD will utilize their passion for treating patients from diverse and vulnerable communities to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, integrated primary care. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact the health and well-being of the New Bedford community by providing leadership, medical oversight, and education to our dedicated medical staff.
With the support of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the SMD will support the ongoing development of the Health Center’s medical services, patient care protocols, and provider education systems that align with the organizational objectives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for the Health Center’s medical staff, ensuring evidence-based practices are maintained.
• Examine patients, review medical histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and deliver appropriate treatment and education.
• Provide continuity of chronic care management including but not limited to well visits, sick visits, hospital follow-ups, immunizations, STI and common infections treatment and education.
• Manage complex medical issues within the scope of internal medicine and family medicine practices.
• Support individuals and services related to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Latent Tuberculosis prevention and treatment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement clinical guidelines and best practices.
• Offer guidance on clinical decision-making and treatment planning, ensuring high standards of patient care.
• Assist with quality improvement initiatives, patient safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of medical providers, including ongoing education and training.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and care that aligns with the mission and values of the Health Center.
Required Education:
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Board Certification/Board Eligible in: Internal Medicine (ABIM) or Family Medicine (ABFM)
• Current and unrestricted Medical License
• Active DEA and Controlled Substance Registration
• Current BLS/CPR Certification
Other Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
• A deep commitment to the health and well-being of diverse and vulnerable communities
• Leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching or providing oversight to clinical teams
• Strong eMR systems experience [EPIC, eClinical Works]
Salary : $166,000 - $297,277
