Job Title: Youth Programs Coordinator 

Status: Part-time hourly (28 hours/week) 

Schedule:  

Monday: 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. (4 hours) 

Tuesday: OFF 

Wednesday: OFF 

Thursday: 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (4 hours) 

Friday: 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. (4 hours) 

Saturday: 9:30 a.m.- 5:30 PM  (8 hours)  

Sunday: 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (8 hours) 

Y Grade 6, Wage: $18.49/hour 

Reports to: Sr. Dir. of Youth Dev. 

Probation: Subject to a 12-month  introductory (probationary) period 


 POSITION SUMMARY: The Youth Programs Coordinator assists in the day-to-day operation of several  YMCA programs. The Youth Programs Coordinator is primarily responsible for managing Birthday Parties,  and supporting Youth Club Programming, as well as serving as the Manager on Duty supporting YMCA  staff during weekend shifts. Across all programs, the Youth Program Coordinator must consistently  maintain the YMCA’s high standards for best practices. This position is very visible with direct impact on  the reputation of the Missoula Family YMCA. Must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique  challenges of a non-profit community service organization. Works with very little supervision. 



 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Adhere to the mission of the YMCA at all times and implements the Y Core Values of  caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. 
  • Ensure quality & safety are always at the forefront of all youth programs. Lead by example and  hold staff accountable to maintain YMCA quality and safety standards. 
  • Provide exemplary member service to YMCA members & program participants' families:  assisting with registration, billing, schedule changes, and questions; positively interacting with  members and program. 
  • Manage Birthday Parties. Responsibilities include: streamlined communication between renting  parties, Welcome Center, and frontline YMCA staff; organizing equipment and rental spaces;  providing rental schedule to frontline staff; and working alongside frontline staff as needed. 
  • Assist with planning and implementation of Youth Club Programming. Responsibilities include:  organizing supplies & equipment; creating club rosters, shopping for club supplies; working  alongside frontline staff in club; behavioral interventions; transporting participants in YMCA  vehicles; and communicating with participant families. 
  • During evenings and weekends, serve as the YMCA’s Manager on Duty (M.O.D.). Responsibilities  include: supporting frontline staff; moving throughout the building to make your presence known  to staff and members; interrupting and redirecting any inappropriate behaviors (particularly  amongst youth members); responding to emergency situations; calling offsite directors for  additional support as needed. 
  • Assist with the implementation of other YMCA youth programs including but not limited to: Active  6, Family Fun Time, Rock Climbing, Summer Camps, and Youth Sports. 
  • Participate in larger YMCA organization planning, work, and meetings. Support the organization  through participation in fundraising & special events (Annual Support Campaign, Riverbank Run,  etc.), by championing the organization in the community, and through effective communication  with all YMCA departments and staff. 
  • Attend quarterly “State of the Y” management team meeting. 
  • Operate YMCA vehicles safely and efficiently, following all relevant laws, policies, and procedures. · Clean and maintain office spaces, closets, buses and surrounding areas.  
  • Completes required child sexual abuse prevention training, comply with legal and ethical  obligation as a mandatory reporter of suspected child abuse and cooperate fully with any  investigation of such abuse 
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education/Certification: 

  • Required - High school diploma or equivalent  
  • Required - CPR & First Aid Certification – can be obtained at the YMCA  
  • Required - Valid driver's license with insurable driver’s record – required to drive Y vehicles. · Preferred - Bachelor’s degree or coursework in subject related to education, recreation  management, child psychology & development, community health, physical fitness, or  social work.  
  • Preferred - Class B CDL w/ passenger endorsement and no airbrake restrictions - or - willingness to obtain upon hiring. 

Experience: 

  • Required - Experience working with children 
  • Preferred - Experience working in customer service

  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time  · Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids  
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds  · Frequently requires bending, leaning, kneeling, lifting and walking
