Job Title: Afternoon PT Custodian

Status: Part time hourly, non-exempt

Wage: $18-21/hr dep. on experience

Schedule: 20-25 hours/ week. Monday- Friday 2PM-6PM

Reports to: Associate Director of Aquatics and Member Safety

Probation: Subject to a 12-month introductory (probationary) period

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Development Center Director, the custodian insures that the YMCA Development Center facilities are cleaned nightly and that the facilities and property are clean and sanitized for all children and staff using any part of the facility. Works independently with minimal on-site supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Cleans the childcare facilities nightly, including floors, walls, bathrooms, kitchens and all surfaces and areas used by children and staff to the high cleaning standards of the YMCA.

• Mop, sweep, vacuum and scrub floors, walls and counter surfaces as required.
• Wash and clean window sills, mirrors, door panels, and occasionally windows, as needed.
• Empties wastebaskets, and picks up trash.
• Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Cleans bathroom sinks, toilets and floors and replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Once monthly deep-cleans areas as directed.
• Knows and implements all rules of sanitation of the childcare facility.
• Identifies potential hazards around the facility that may be dangerous and reports to the Director.
• Responds cheerfully to requests for service and adequately responds to the custodial needs of the Director.
• Communicates with the Director on any potential concerns related to the operation of the building.
• Has working knowledge of hazardous chemicals and other materials used in the facilities
• Adheres to the Mission of the YMCA at all times and implements the Character Development traits of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into the work performed at this facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complete required child abuse prevention training, follow all abuse prevention and risk management policies, maintain appropriate boundaries, supervise responsibly, and fulfill all legal and ethical duties as a mandatory reporter by promptly reporting and cooperating with any investigations of suspected abuse or policy violations.

Requirements

Experience in custodial work, cleaning and sanitizing.
