Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate trades instructor to teach high school students. As a Part-Time Trades Instructor, you will deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in basic trades concepts, including some carpentry techniques, preparing students for a career in the construction industry. This role is ideal for professionals looking to share their knowledge and make a lasting impact on the future workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction in NCCER Core curriculum, including:
- Basic Safety
- Construction Math
- Hand Tools/Power Tools
- Employability Skills
- Material Handling
- Plan and implement engaging lessons that align with NCCER standards.
- Create a safe learning environment that encourages student participation.
- Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervise student lab activities.
- Assess and document student progress, providing constructive feedback to help them improve.
- Maintain classroom and lab safety standards.
- Participate in periodic instructor training and professional development, including becoming an NCCER-certified instructor if not already certified.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Journeyman certification or equivalent industry experience.
- Familiarity with the NCCER curriculum or willingness to complete NCCER Instructor Certification Training.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the carpentry trade
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire high school students.
- Prior teaching or training experience is a plus but not required.
Schedule: Weekday Mornings, 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM (through May)
