Housing Finance & Portfolio Manager

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity – External Version

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity’s Housing Finance & Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s mortgage portfolio and supporting financial compliance associated with housing funding programs. Monitors portfolio performance, manages delinquency tracking, loss mitigation coordination, and supports documentation and reporting requirements tied to government and grant-funded housing initiatives. Working closely with finance, family services, and construction staff, this position helps ensure accurate loan data, strong internal processes, and proper documentation for funding compliance, audits, and organizational reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Mortgage Portfolio Oversight & Analytics

  • Oversees the organization’s mortgage portfolio, including loan balances, payment performance, delinquencies, and overall trends.
  • Prepares and delivers portfolio reports for leadership, auditors, and external partners.
  • Tracks and analyzes performance metrics, including delinquency rates and repayment activity.
  • Supports financial forecasting and long-term planning related to the mortgage portfolio.

Loss Mitigation & Delinquency Monitoring

  • Monitors delinquency reports and identifies loans requiring intervention or additional support.
  • Coordinates with internal departments to assess borrower status and supports mitigation strategies.
  • Maintains documentation related to repayment plans, loan modifications, and mitigation efforts.
  • Supports internal review processes related to default management and foreclosure decisions.

Funding Documentation & Compliance Coordination

  • Coordinates documentation for federally and publicly funded housing programs.
  • Ensures documentation is collected and maintained in compliance with funding requirements.
  • Maintains records supporting compliance with grant and program guidelines.
  • Supports reporting requirements associated with funding sources.

Audit & Reporting Support

  • Prepares documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Maintains organized financial and compliance records for audit reviews
  • Supports responses to documentation requests from auditors, lenders, and regulatory partners.

Systems, Data Management & Process Improvement

  • Maintains systems for tracking mortgage data, loan documentation, and reporting.
  • Ensures consistency between servicing, accounting, and internal program data.
  • Assists in improving processes related to tracking, reporting, and documentation.
  • Collaborates across departments to strengthen program systems.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participates in discussions related to housing finance initiatives and program improvements.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mortgage servicing, housing finance, loan portfolio management, or financial compliance
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/data tracking systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex documentation and data systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial and program information with discretion
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners
  • Ability to pass a satisfactory background check

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit finance, affordable housing, or community development organizations
  • Experience working with government-funded programs or grant compliance (e.g., HUD, HOME, CDBG)
  • Understanding of mortgage lending, loan servicing, or housing finance concepts
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory reporting, or financial monitoring processes

Position Details

  • Reports To: CFO/COO
  • Employment Type/Classification: Full-Time (40 hours/week), exempt
  • Workweek: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Targeted salary range: $50,000 - $60,000; commensurate with experience

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: This position primarily operates in a professional office environment with standard office equipment. However, the role also requires occasional work in outdoor environments, particularly during home visits. Candidates must be comfortable navigating active construction sites and community event settings, sometimes in varying weather conditions. Occasional standing and walking required.
