What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Representative - LIHEAP position at Greater Bergen Community Action?
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare a list of clients applying for assistance.
- Prepare and send application packages to clients.
- File applications upon receipt.
- Conduct interviews of clients applying for assistance and complete applications when needed.
- Submit requests for emergencies to the manager for payment approval.
- Maintain a record every month of the number of applicants, the number of applications received, and the number of applications coded and non-coded.
- Maintain a record of the number of emergency assistance entries in the system.
- Determine eligibility for other utility assistance programs available at the time of application.
- Provide information and referrals for other social services when needed.
- Responsible for learning the application process for other programs within the division.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a High school diploma or the equivalent
- Preferred: At least customer service experience
- Preferred: Bilingual
- Ability to multitask with a keen eye on organization.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage difficult clients.
- Must be fluent with technology, including phone systems, Microsoft applications, and database usage.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to assist a high volume of clients.

Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7-hour shift. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
