We are seeking a Housing Staff Attorney for a full-time role, based on-site in Bakersfield, CA. The Housing Staff Attorney will provide direct legal services to clients, including legal advice, representation in housing-related cases, and participating in negotiations. Daily tasks will also include conducting legal research, analyzing cases, and collaborating with community partners to support individuals facing housing insecurity. The attorney will work to uphold our mission of preventing homelessness, advocating for housing stability, and ensuring access to fair and safe housing for our clients.
- Proficiency in Law with a focus on Housing Law, including knowledge of relevant statutes and legal processes.
- Experience in providing Legal Advice and engaging in Negotiation to effectively support client needs and case resolutions.
- Strong skills in Legal Research and the ability to analyze cases and interpret legal matters with attention to detail.
- Experience or knowledge in Labor and Employment Law would be a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and legal documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment and with communities facing socioeconomic challenges.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; active membership in the California Bar is required.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and serving low-income or underserved populations is highly desirable.
