Description
Great Western Building Systems seeks a skilled and detail-oriented Yard Quality Control Specialist to join our rapidly growing company. GWB was established in 2016 and is quickly becoming a leader in the Pre-Engineered metal building industry.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and experienced in industrial painting and quality assurance processes, with a proactive approach to maintaining a clean, organized work environment and strict adherence to safety protocols. They possess strong communication skills, allowing them to effectively collaborate with management and team members to ensure project goals and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities
Report to supervisor at the start of each shift to review the schedule for upcoming job departures
Assist in prioritizing workload based on production needs and shipping timelines
Stage jobs for shipment to ensure all materials are organized and prepared for loading
Review bundles for accuracy and completeness; identify and resolve discrepancies (e.g. missing or incorrectly bundled materials)
Investigate root causes of staging or bundling issues and take corrective action to ensure jobs are fully prepared in a single, designated staging area
Coordinate with Yard, production, and shipping teams to ensure all required components are loaded accurately and on time
Communicate any issues impacting shipment readiness in a timely and solution-focused manner
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient yard environment
Proactively identify opportunities to improve organization, workflow, and material accessibility during downtime
Perform final walk throughs of staged jobs to verify quality standards are met
Complete paint touch-ups and minor corrections as needed prior to shipment
Serve as a cross-functional resource to support operations as needed, including covering responsibilities in Weld QC and Post-Paint QC

Follow all safety protocols including wearing PPE and required PPE at all times. Required PPE is defined as gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe boots. Additional PPE, such as hard hats, flame-resistant clothing, hearing protection, face shields, respirators, etc, may be required depending on the specific tasks being performed or the work area.

Qualifications & Experience
The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check is required
Previous experience in quality control, inspection, or a related role in steel manufacturing or industrial painting
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred; additional technical training in welding, painting, or industrial coating is a plus
Certifications in quality control processes (e.g. NACE coating Inspector) is a plus but not required
Familiarity with IAS standards and Mil thickness testing is preferred
Strong knowledge of industrial painting processes and standards
Ability to inspect and evaluate painted steel beams for compliance with quality standards and customer expectations
Basic knowledge of shop organization and equipment maintenance
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to walk, stand, use hands to handle tools, reach with arms, kneel, stoop, crouch, and talk and hear in noisy environments
Must be able to regularly lift and move objects weighing up to 51 lbs independently and occasionally lift and move objects up to 100lbs with the assistance of team lifts.
The work environment is primarily indoors, and will, at times, be exposed to natural weather elements such as heat, cold, sunlight, darkness, wind, rain, lightning, snow, and dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Compensation and Benefits
$20.50 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience
