Responsibilities
Manufacturing Operations
Maximize our leading edge ERP software to focus on results that expand throughput, eliminate bottlenecks, and minimize waste
Ensure the shop and yard are highly organized, clean, and efficient
Evaluate current strategies and make adjustments to streamline manufacturing, maintenance, and material movements including staging, bundling, packing, loading, and shipping
Oversee preventive maintenance and ensure sufficient down time is blocked out in the schedule; predict when to take advantage of maintenance opportunities
Identify and implement opportunities to reduce inventory costs through purchasing, re-use, lead times, and strategic management
Data Best Practices
Communicate KPIs to individual Teams and help them achieve their goals
Ensure material movements are accurate and in real time by training staff to utilize scanning systems throughout the shop for each event (material staging, production, bundling, and shipping)
Utilize and manage data to ensure all production and materials are accurately tracked and production/delivery schedules are upheld
Track, monitor, and evaluate production data to make informed decisions and evidence based continuous improvement recommendations to upper management
Staff Management
Maintain a cohesive and effective manufacturing team by leading cooperation between maintenance, safely, quality control and shop personnel
Efficiently match staffing to variable production needs and schedules
Cross train capable employees to prevent downtime and increase flexibility
Identify gaps and provide guidance and training to improve the team’s productivity, efficiency, quality, and self worth
Bring in new talent as needed and train them to perform to their best potential
Retain and reward valued employees
Leadership
Inspire, motivate, and encourage the manufacturing team to professionally meet and exceed standards and production goals
Strive to learn all aspects of the building systems we produce to become a trusted leading resource to staff and customers when needed
Identify Team Leads and mentor them for succession planning
Other
Collaborate with the Controller, President, and General Manager, to make decisions that support business goals
Work with project management, detailing, engineering and sales to fill the pipeline for the shop
Follow all safety protocols including wearing PPE and required PPE at all times. Required PPE is defined as gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe boots. Additional PPE, such as hard hats, flame-resistant clothing, hearing protection, face shields, respirators, etc, may be required depending on the specific tasks being performed or the work area.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 5 years experience managing overall operations (safety, quality, procurement, logistics, maintenance, budget, etc.) in a custom manufacturing environment
Welding knowledge and experience required
Experience managing 30 employees
Ability to comfortably use computers and software ERP programs, Excel, Google sheets, email, etc.
Experience in an industrial custom steel manufacturing plant preferred
Experience with moderate to complex project management involving materials and manufacturing processes
Experience with moderate to complex operations with products on manufacturing lines including cutting steel plate, fitting, welding and painting
Knowledge of machines and tools used for steel fabrication (plasma tables, saws, auto-welders), including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
Ability to apply quality control for moderate regulatory & testing requirements
The work environment is primarily indoors, and will, at times, be exposed to natural weather elements such as heat, cold, sunlight, darkness, wind, rain, lightning, snow, and dust. The noise level in the work environment. is usually moderate.
Compensation and Benefits
$75,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year, depending on experience and performance
