A Brief Overview
Provides strategic and operational leadership for all pharmacy services across Great River Health. Responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication management across inpatient, outpatient, specialty and retail settings. Leads financial performance, clinical quality, and program growth while ensuring adherence to all state, federal, and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with executive leadership, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, improve processes, and support organizational goals.
What you will do
- Departmental Oversight: Leads system-wide pharmacy operations, including formulary management, antibiotic stewardship, and medication utilization. Oversees budgeting, financial performance, and resource allocation, including operating and capital budgets. Directs supply chain operations, including 340B program oversight, inventory management, automation systems, and medication safety initiatives. Ensures quality outcomes through performance improvement activities and collaboration with clinical and operational teams.
- Specialty Pharmacy / Clinical / Compliance Oversight: Provides leadership for compliance, clinical programs, and performance improvement initiatives. Ensures adherence to HIPAA, Medicare, accreditation standards, and all regulatory requirements. Oversees audits, policy development, and quality management programs. Monitors performance metrics, risk management, and patient care outcomes.
- Regulatory & Quality Oversight: Ensures ongoing compliance with Board of Pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, and controlled substance requirements. Leads quality improvement initiatives and monitors performance.
- Strategic Planning & Medication Management: Develops and executes strategic plans to optimize medication management systems across inpatient, outpatient, and clinic settings. Oversees 340B program performance and financial initiatives.
- Operations & Collaboration: Develops and implements policies and procedures to support efficient pharmacy operations. Builds relationships with nursing, providers, and leadership to enhance patient care.
- Leadership & Talent Management: Leads recruitment, retention, and development of pharmacy staff and leadership. Provides coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited college of Pharmacy Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) In Pharmacy Required
- Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) In Pharmacy Preferred
- 7-9 years Experience in leadership within a hospital, clinical, retail, or integrated health system pharmacy settings Required
- Experience with pharmacy operations, financial management, and regulatory compliance. Required
- Strong understanding of 340B programs, medication management systems, and clinical pharmacy services Preferred
- Experience working with pharmaceutical vendors and supply chain operations Preferred
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, clinical practices, and medication management
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks
- Financial acumen, including budgeting and performance management
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives and drive operational improvement
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Pharmacist Iowa Board of Pharmacy (United States of America) within 90 Days Required
Qualifications:
Specialty Pharmacy - Continue education must be completed based on disease states covered by ACHC standards and URAC.
