About the Role
The Director of Development will lead all aspects of fundraising for the Great River Children’s Museum, including major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and donor relations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both strategy and execution and is ready to help build fundraising systems and a culture of philanthropy for a newly opened nonprofit.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement fundraising strategies and campaigns.
- Cultivate and solicit major donors, sponsors, and grant funders.
- Manage grant writing, reporting, and compliance.
- Oversee donor database and fundraising systems.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure consistent donor communications.
- Engage with the Board, leadership, and community stakeholders to advance fundraising goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required); advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of nonprofit fundraising or related experience.
- Experience leading teams and building development systems from the ground up.
- Strong writing, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
