Spray Painter (Painter A) – 1st Shift – Tipton, KS
Great Plains Mfg is seeking a 1st Shift Spray Painter (Painter A) to join our team in Tipton, KS.
This position works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime on Fridays, as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lift heavy objects by hand or using power hoist, and clean work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds.
- May occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Observe parts to detect defects or equipment malfunction and reports as directed.
- Clean and prepare surfaces of manufactured products prior to the application of protective coatings.
- Load, unload, and move materials at work site.
- Spray surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or working area with protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, or powder coating
- Paint parts to required specifications for top coat finish
- Learn top coat painting, demonstrate pride in work
- Use paint gun, hoist, manlift, ladder, air gun and other necessary tools
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear PPE as required
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Top Coat Painter is preferred.
- Ability to physically perform the job
- Ability to pass the required respirator test to wear a paint respirator
- Ability to follow inventory control procedures
- Ability to give strong attention to detail and stay on-task in a fast-paced environment
- Have a good understanding of team concepts and be a strong team player
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools; ability to read blueprints and tape measure, when needed
- Capable of embracing a culture of Lean Manufacturing and implementation of change
- Ability to follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed PPE as required
