Great Plains Manufacturing in Salina is seeking a**1st ShiftParts

Shipper**to join our GP Ag Parts Department in Salina to receive, store,

assemble, distribute, and route parts and products.

This position works on-site in Salina Monday through Friday from 8:00

• m. to 4:30 p.m., plus occasional overtime as required.
  
  

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Compare identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items
  
  

of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against

bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

• Read customer order, shipping order, or requisition to determine
  
  

items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

• Assemble customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or
  
  

shelves, or convey orders to packing station or shipping station.

• Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled
  
  

containers.

• Insert items into containers.
• Nail covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal tape.
• Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying
  
  

shipping information on cartons.

• Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping
  
  

instructions onto crates or containers.

• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, rejects damaged items,
  
  

records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages

and shortages.

• Convey materials and items from receiving or parts department areas
  
  

to storage or to other designated areas.

• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins
  
  

according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style,

color, or product code.

• Operate tier lift truck or use handtruck to move, convey, or hoist
  
  

shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work

area.

• Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
• Weigh or count items for distribution within plant to ensure
  
  

conformance to company standards.

• Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
• Drive vehicle to transport stored items from parts department to
  
  

plant or to pick up items from several locations for receiving or

shipment.

• Monitor parts department tasks and recommends quality improvement
  
  

initiatives to the parts department manager.

• Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear
  
  

prescribed safety and protective equipment.

• Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications,
  
  

physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and documents such as
  
  

safety rules and operating/maintenance/procedure manuals

• Ability to safely operate a forklift, lift truck and other vehicles;
  
  

forklift certification preferred

• Ability to write correspondence
• Ability to perform basic math skills, including addition,
  
  

subtraction and multiplication

• Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple tasks
  
  

simultaneously

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed
  
  

but uninvolved written or oral instructions
