Great Plains Manufacturing Corporate Purchasing Department is seeing an individual to join our team as a Purchasing Planner/Buyer.
This an on-site role that typicall works in our Corporate offices in Salina, KS Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Great Plains Manufacturing Corporate Purchasing Department is seeing an individual to join our team as a Purchasing Planner/Buyer.
This an on-site role that typicall works in our Corporate offices in Salina, KS Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Administer, review and manager purchase orders and deliver commitments with designated suppliers to support production requirements.
- Review, interpret, and communicate material demand forecasts with designated suppliers.
- Manage shortages, run root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to prevent delivery delays.
- Embrace continuous improvement techniques to drive toward attainment of key purchasing metrics.
- Leverage problem-solving skills and develop counter-measures to implement long-term solutions to identified problems.
- Prepare detailed reports in Excel on purchasing activities.
- Evaluate current practices and implement continuous improvement initiatives; be a driver in continuous improvement efforts.
- Work within a team structure to achieve company and department goals.
- Follows all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
- Strong knowledge of business methods, markets and purchasing practices
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Demonstrated aptitude for creativity and resourcefulness
- Ability to identify complex problems in a timely manner and develop alternate solutions
- Strong analytical skills and ability to gather and compile relevant information
- Solid technical and mechanical aptitude
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or other relevant field helpful, but not required; 2 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- APICS/ISM professional certification a plus
