Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Manufacturing, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer at our Abilene facility in Abilene, KS.
This on-site position primarily works Monday - Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Lead.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Manufacturing, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer at our Abilene facility in Abilene, KS.
This on-site position primarily works Monday - Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Lead.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing processes with the primary focus being operator safety by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing methods
- Conceptualize and maintain plant layout and processes
- Spend time on the production floor assisting with process improvements, with main focus in assembly
- Assist with capital improvement projects
- Read and interpret performance charts and graphs relating to safety, quality and productivity
- Design and spec fixtures, carts, tooling, etc.
- Liaison between plant and product development to include submitting and managing engineering change requests
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs for management decisions
- Work closely with materials management to balance the flow of production through the plant
- Support manufacturing to achieve safety, productivity and quality tats through process design, optimization projects and Kaizen initiatives
- Develop or revise standard operating and working practices
- Follow all Great Plains, OSHA, ISE safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related degree from four-year college or university; manufacturing engineering experience a plus
- Understanding of a variety of manufacturing equipment and systems
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Lean advocate with demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Must be familiar with AutoCAD, 3D Solid Modeling and Creo
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups
- Ability to safely operate automobiles, trucks, tractors and lifts
