Fab Operator – 2nd Shift - Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a 2nd Shift Fabrication Operator in our Salina, KS facility to fabricate material such as framework or shells for machinery and metal parts for products according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints.
This position works Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with overtime on Friday, as required.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a 2nd Shift Fabrication Operator in our Salina, KS facility to fabricate material such as framework or shells for machinery and metal parts for products according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints.
This position works Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with overtime on Friday, as required.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Set up, tend and operate fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, roller, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, punch machines, laser cutting, CNC plasma, etc. that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures
- Review engineering releases and create press brake programming as needed
- Determine proper press brake tooling to use on all operations
- Assist operators on press brake set-ups and functions
- Create DAVI Roller programs and assist operators as needed
- Understand, modify and create G Codes for AMADA CNC Turret Punch Press
- Measure work piece dimensions with varying measuring devices to determine accuracy of machine operation.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
- Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces
- Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
- One to three years’ experience as a fabrication operator or similar
- Strong understanding of computer functions and various software
- Must be able to read prints and understand all press brake operations
- Must have strong math skills, including proficiency with fractions and decimals
