What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Operations Assistant (Contract) position at Great Old Broads for Wilderness?
Great Old Broads for Wilderness is the only national environmental organization for older women. With a 40-year history of protecting the lands and waters we share, Great Old Broads for Wilderness has achieved major wins for public lands on the local, state, and national levels.
Great Old Broads for Wilderness is now searching for a part-time contractor to support its operations functions. The incumbent will largely work from home, with twice weekly visits to the organization’s office in Durango, Colorado.

Responsibilities
- Financial operations
- Enter check donations into Neon, the organization’s CRM
- Forward emails related to electronic funds transfers to the finance team and log the EFTs in Neon
- Scan finance-related letters received at the office (such as letters related to tax filings or business licenses) and email them to the finance team
- Donor operations
- Respond to emails received at the membership@, admin@, and broads@ email addresses, using excellent customer service skills to respond to members’ needs; forward to staff as appropriate
- Respond to voice mails left on the office phone number, using excellent customer service skills to respond to members’ needs; forward to staff as appropriate
- Update donors’ credit cards in Neon
- Generate and send form letters after receiving donations (donations come as cash, donor-advised fund and IRA transfers, and gifts of stock) and after receiving legacy circle commitments
- Update the donation receipt template in Neon as needed
- Office operations
- Support software subscriptions (create new accounts, notify staff of expiring licenses, etc.)
- Support software use (create webinar links in Zoom, support event registration in Neon, etc.)
- Receive orders for merchandise, package and send merchandise, and keep inventory of merchandise
- Track when members are due to get member gifts and package and send the gifts
- Adjust local chapters’ balances to reflect merchandise requests
Location and hours
The coordinator will work from home, with twice weekly visits to the organization’s office in Durango, Colorado to handle mail and process merchandise. Visits to the post office in Durango may be needed occasionally.
The schedule is flexible within the following limits:
- A minimum of three working days per week is required.
- At least 5 working hours per week must be within the window of 8:00 to 1:00 Mountain time, Monday through Friday.
- Office visits of about 30 minutes each between 8:00 and 3:00 are required. The days of the visits would ideally be Mondays and Wednesdays, but can be adjusted to Tuesdays and Thursdays if needed.
Pay
The coordinator will work an average of 10 hours per week. The pay rate is $20 per hour, paid monthly, with the coordinator responsible for taxes as a contractor. There are no benefits for the role.
Essential qualifications
- 1-3 years in an operations role such as office coordinator, finance coordinator, or similar
- 1-3 years in a donor-facing role such as membership coordinator, donor coordinator, or similar
- Familiarity with CRMs
- Absolute dependability
- Fluency in English, with impeccable written and oral skills
Desired qualifications
- Native fluency in Spanish is strongly desired but not required
