Patient Intake Coordinator

Great Lakes Oral Surgery is growing! If you have a passion for patient care and the skill, knowledge, and understanding of dental insurance. We are looking to expand our patient care team at GLOS! The Patient Intake/Insurance Coordinator is the initial point of contact for the office, greeting and welcoming patients into our oral surgery practice! Direct liaison coordinating with our provider and clinical team, offering the utmost in quality patient care for a positive patient centered experience!

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure a welcome, inviting, positive line of communication. Whether by phone or by greeting in person with our patients and our referring provider office contacts.
  • Answer patient and referring office queries with patience, respect, by showing professional proficiency and efficiency.
  • Ability to confidently inquire and verify patient dental benefit information either on the payer portal or by phone. Can differentiate between subscriber and member on policy, primary and secondary insurances. Input patient information into the PMS system accurately, and completely to ADA billing standards. Have an understanding of current ADA billing and coding standards used with oral surgery procedures.
  • Assist patients with check-in and check-out status, inform clinical staff of important patient health information. Transfer imaging and referrals to the patient files as needed in the EHR system. Send, manage and prepare patient forms in a timely manner.
  • Ability to monitor appointment schedule from patient cancellations, re-schedule, follow-up, post-up, appointments. Coordinate referring office appointments to ensure a seamless transition in patient care.
  • Administrative skills needed: scan, copy, type, input, fax, communication, phone skills, multitasking, attention to detail, computer skills, collection of payments, other duties assigned by the provider/office manager.
  • Ability to create, calculate, and present proposed diagnosed patient treatment care plans to patients, in a caring, positive and understanding fashion.
  • Must adhere to practice policies, procedures, and regulations for healthcare compliance. Including HIPAA patient privacy laws, adhere to strict office electronic security guidelines

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in an oral surgery, dental office, or healthcare administration setting.
  • Proficient in dental software/ PMS (Practice Management Software) use.
  • Knowledge of CDT dental coding, current coding rules, guidelines, compliance, and regulations. Coordination of benefits, treatment planning.
  • Ability to work well with others, stay on task, complete expected daily tasks -aspects of position. Have a professional demeanor, dress appropriately.
  • Offers to assist team members as needed, and work as a team. Ability to communicate with others in a positive manner and respect others' differences.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
