Job Title: MRI Technologist

Reports to: MRI Manager

Pay: To determine our range, we consider as many of the following data points as are available to us: external market salary survey data, internal data in terms of comparable roles and our budget for the position. What we have posted is our good faith estimate of what we expect to pay: $30-$46 an hour.

Summary: The MRI Technologist works as a member of the MRI Team, reporting to the MRI Manager. This role provides MRI based imaging to patients and supports the patient experience throughout their time at GLMI. Effective communication between departments and exemplary patient care must be maintained. This role performs a variety of tasks beyond MRI imaging including; patient calls, documentation in charts, and assisting with both patient and other co-worker needs.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs all duties of a MRI Technologist including:
• MRI procedures
• Starting IV lines on patients using proper technique
  
  

Communicates with patients regarding medical history, symptoms and explanation of procedures with associated documentation.Follows strict MRI safety guidelines at all times.Provides clear and thorough explanation of procedures to patients.Records all contrast injections administered to patients along with any complications of contrast injectionsEnters data in Radiology Information System, assuring accuracy and completeness. Verifies accuracy of orders prior to examining the patient.Maintains a clean and orderly work area, provides quality control processes when necessary and ensures the safety of patients in the department.Attends to the medical needs of patients at all times. Maintains patient modesty at all times.Helps fellow technologists when not busy with MRI specific duties.Restocks supplies and maintains a list of things to be ordered.Operates standard imaging equipment including but not limited to:

• MRI Machines
• Power Injector
• PC Computer
• PACS/RIS Computer
• Laser Film Printer/CD

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High School Diploma

ARRT approved program, 2 years' experience preferred but not required.

Certificates And Licenses

CPR Certification

ARRT Certification in MRI required, or within 1 year of start date in accordance with GLMI policy.

New York State Radiologic Technology License with Injection

Physical And Mental Requirements

• May be asked to lift up to 50 pounds
• Standing, walking, sitting, keyboard use for long periods of time
• Ability to listen and communicate with patients face to face or over the phone
• Will be required to read, write, work in a fast-paced office setting
• Ability to make decisions and think quickly
