Center Specialist
Location: 615 Vine Street, Clyde, OH 43410
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 34 hours per week
Employment Type: Full-Time Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct and monitor the daily operation of assigned site(s) in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Ohio Early Learning Standards, ODJFS Licensing, Step Up to Quality, NAEYC, and policies and procedures.
- In partnership with Teacher Coach, ensure teaching staff utilize and implement Conscious Discipline, the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD and demonstrate progress towards established school readiness goals.
- Ensure teaching staff develop and implement weekly lesson plans that incorporate parent engagement, individualization, IFSP/IEP goals, and multi-cultural and multi-lingual support.
- Support teacher-child interactions and ensure children are provided a variety of opportunities that prompt investigation and offer reflection and critical thinking skills.
- Ensure a regular schedule for conducting classroom observations; assist with making arrangements for classroom support; ensure progress is made towards established goals.
- Ensure timely completion and entry of screening and assessment data including; ASQ-3, ASQ-SE, ELA, and Teaching Strategies Gold.
- Monitor, evaluate and track implementation of classroom practices including but not limited to supervision of children, parent engagement, nutrition and health services, safe and inclusive environments, and education services.
- Maintain and monitor records and submit accurate reports and requested information on a timely basis.
- Organize and/or attend staff, parent, community and state meetings to build effective relationships, report updates and stay informed on the latest research and best practices in the Early Childhood field.
- Ensure staff professional development goals are established and training/learning opportunities are made available to staff; provide new teaching staff with training and support to ensure they have the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in their position.
- Ensure a team approach to service delivery; communicate, coordinate and collaborate with internal staff and external partners as appropriate; serve as the liaison between families, parent committees, landlords and/or local school districts.
- Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.

- Travel out-of-town with occasional overnight stays.
- May occasionally be required to work in excess of scheduled work hours per week in order to fulfill position requirements. Overtime must be pre-approved by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include the following:
- Interview, hire, and train employees.
- Plan, assign, and direct work.
- Appraise performance.
- Reward and discipline employees.
- Address complaints and resolve problems.
Education:
Required Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, Business Management, Social Work or related field.
Experience:
One to three years’ experience in early childhood education or related field; up to one year experience working with word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and database software; prefer one to three years supervisory experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Initial and periodic Motor Vehicle Records checks, maintain a valid driver’s license, and maintain a safe driving record.
- Must have insured, dependable transportation available for daily use.
- Initial and periodic physical exams required.
- Must submit to initial and/or periodic state and/or federal criminal checks.
- Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing.
