- Provides initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations and treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and by assessing and interpreting evaluations and tests results of patients. (20%)
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following, discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending follow-up programs. (20%)
- Promptly and thoroughly documents and maintains clinical and administrative records regarding patient limitations/interventions, treatments, responses, and progress to administered therapy as well as discharge summaries. (10%)
- Records treatment encounters daily and completes EMR in accurate and timely manner. (10%)
- Supervises and directs Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Aides in direct patient care and related activities as requested. (20%)
- Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of GLBHC, and other local, state, and federal guidelines. (10%)
- Oversee all department personnel at all GLBHC sites (PT’s, PTA’s, and Clerks) with regards to scheduling, peer reviews, supervising logs, policies, procedures, and general oversite. (10%)
Marginal Job Duties
- Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
- Maintain best practices for equipment use and preventative maintenance.
- Ensures work area, exam rooms and supplies are maintained.
- Complies with GLBHC policies and procedures.
- Ensures that patient records are maintained in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management.
- Maintain regular clinic hours as approved by Manager.
- Attends meetings as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited physical therapy program.
- Licensure: State of Michigan Physical Therapist license and BLS Certification required.
- Experience: One year as a Physical Therapist or comparable internship.
- Skills: Strong organizational skill and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding procedures. Thorough knowledge of physical therapy principles and practices. Working knowledge of computer programs.
- Interpersonal Skills: Able to communicate effectively with and related to a diverse population in a professional and courteous manner. Able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Able to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Other: Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively. Must be able to Requirements act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing (bilingual preferred). Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
- Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 50 lbs. often.
- Hours of Work: Full-time or Part-time; Flexible and varied. Regular attendance is an essential part of the job. Telecommuting is not available for this position.
- Travel: Travel is generally not a requirement of this job. Local travel between GLBHC sites with use of personal vehicle possible. Reimbursement commensurate with corporate policy and IRS regulations.
